“So what happened while you were out here? Well, before you met me?”
Andy smirked. “I don’t think you’d want to know.”
Lynne simpered. “If I didn’t want to know, I wouldn’t ask.”
“Fair point. Well, after I made a beeline up here I was basically living the good life. I got a well paying job, got plenty of girls. But I couldn’t quite get Raven off of my mind. Before I knew it, I got depressed. Stopping going to work, money stopped coming in. Girls became rare. I was down to my last dollar and I was living in my car. Chance was getting fed up so he kicked me out. That’s where you came in.”
“Ha! Yeah,” Lynne replied unconvincingly. She became crestfallen and looked down at her hands with a sigh.
“Hey… what’s wrong Lynne?” Andy cooed, wrapping his arms around the redhead. She simply got up and left the bedroom, grabbing a glass of red wine in the kitchen and sipping it in the moonlight.
I guess I’m never gonna find that one, huh?
People were always intimidated by her.
Whether it was her looks or her potential, everyone either wanted to be her or be with her. Most of the time it wasn’t a bad thing. But there were sometimes like tonight where she wish she wasn’t so… extraordinary. At least to other people.
She had a great job, six figures and a college degree that was practically paying itself by the age of 22. She was beautiful and could have had any man she wanted. But when the one you want the most doesn’t want you, it tends to tear you apart.
Lynne always had such rotten luck with love, whether it was bad timing or bad chemistry. It didn’t help that she was so insecure in how she saw herself. She couldn’t help that she felt the ways she did when it came to men and women. She had tried everything under the sun but nothing worked.
She resigned herself to her work, throwing herself into it wholeheartedly as if to convince herself that she doesn’t need anyone. But something inside her still felt so empty…
She sipped at her wine and was refilling her glass when Lysie walked in the apartment.
“Hey.”
“Hey,” Lynne faced the 21 year old. “What happened to your jacket?”
“Got rid of it. You got anything to eat?”
“Um, yeah. What do you want?”
“Whatever works for you.”
“Omelette coming up.”
Lysie smiled as she clomped over to the island in the center of the kitchen and sipped at the leftover wine.
Raven came out soon after Lynne started cooking.
"Mmm... that smells good. Got any bacon in it?"
"Extra, just for you."
Lysie rolled her eyes with a chuckle.
"What? Bacon goes good with everything," she quipped as she popped a greasy strip in her mouth.
"Not everything, Rae. Save some for the rest of us, dammit," she scolded as she slapped the other girl's hand away putting the empty wine glass down.
"Hey! No need to get feisty."
"Whatever."
"I see you got rid of that ratty old jacket," Raven pointed out.
"Yeah," Lysie quietly agreed before waving her fingers in front of her to draw their attention to them.
"The gloves too? Wow, what happened?"
"I just need to let go. Of everything."
Raven walked up and gave her a hug before whispering "I'm proud of you."
"Thanks."
"Hello, gorgeous. ... Raven. Jezebel," quipped the only man in the apartment.
"Satan called: he wants his doppelganger back," Raven spat.
Lynne didn't respond, suddenly filled with rage at the ease in their bitter conversation.
"He wishes he could have this body."
"Conceited asshole."
"Whiny little tweak," muttered Lysie.
"Excuse me? You have something to say, Jezebel, or would you like my pacifier to shut you up?"
"Like it would fit."
Andy walked right up to Lysie and slapped her. Hard.
"Watch what you say. You wouldn't want Daddy finding out about your... mistake now would you?"
"Wait, what?" Raven and Lynne chorused.
"Oh, she didn't tell you? Anthony got her pregnant. She miscarried three months after from stress, or so she claimed."
Raven turned and stared wide-eyed at Lysie.
"What?! How does he know and I don't?!"
"We've... we've met before."
"Oh ok, what else don't I know?! Did you fuck him too?!"
"No, he was... he was one of Anthony's roommates. We met like once after I found out he cheated." Lysie looked down at the floor, her hand grazing her swelling cheek.
Raven looked at Lysie in confusion before backing up and running back to her room. Lysie followed after a few seconds.
"Rae!"
The door opened and slammed twice as Andy lazily reached for a strip of bacon. Lynne snatched the plate away and placed it next to her in contained fury.

"When the hell were you gonna tell me that he got you pregnant?! Huh?!"
"The right time never came up!"
"Fuck that!! If I had known that bastard did that to you, I would have twisted his balls off!!"
"For what?! The damage was already done!!"
"... And what would have happened if you carried to term? Huh?" The purple-haired girl fumed.
"I... I don’t know..."
I crumpled to the floor, extreme sadness weighing me down as I buried my face in my hands once more. Sobs racked my body and I shook from the overwhelming shame. Damn it all...
Raven carefully wrapped her arms around me and held me as my cries subsided to hiccups. I wasn't sure when I started breathing normally again.
Andy smirked. “I don’t think you’d want to know.”
Lynne simpered. “If I didn’t want to know, I wouldn’t ask.”

Literature
9:30 PM, January 17th
Nobody hears her screams,
her heart breaking into pieces,
and she begs the world
to make her numb.
Life would be so much easier
if she couldn't feel a thing,
no pain, no melancholy,
no sadness, no love.
She is pleading for peace
but is instead given none;
she knows the bitter truth,
she could never be enough.
Literature
Hibiscus Coast (08/04/16)
THe sea sends summer storms
Lashing on the pebbled beach
And hibiscus shiver in the sleet
Bright tendrils stalwart 'gainst
The pelting of a darkened cloud
They'll raise their tattered petals
Tomorrow to the sky
And drink of their defiance
Beneath the unclouded summer sky.
Literature
17 - just forget it
now ain't this exactly what you pictured
that I say my goodbyes, for forever
never have to lie again
never have to pretend again
now ain't this exactly what you wanted
say your goodbyes, for forever
I won't be bothered again
too much pain
this unexplainable hatred
in all my corners, it's nestled
"like a whisper dried up on the lips
whose longing wasn't good enough
alone you scream and break, fear and disappear
and you're melted to the universe's core"
and I fucking say
goodbye to all (y)our bullshit
'cause ain't that exactly what you wanted
